Jungle Lady

Artwork Description
This stream of consciousness drawing is centered around an abstracted woman in business clothes with a ghostly orchid overlaid and disguising her. While I drew this, I was thinking about how offices are filled with tropical plants that don't really belong in those climates and would grow so much more robustly in the rainforest where they're originated. Office workers are faced with reminders of captivity in the form of potted snake plants and stunted rubber trees while they count down to their next long weekend. 

Part of my "Plant Lady" watercolor marker series where I took the basic elements of an anchoring circle, plant matter, and a female figure to make associations with a hidden personal meaning.
